For years, I’ve been knitting like a woman on a mission—needles clicking, yarn flying, and projects multiplying like bunnies in springtime. Patterns? Oh, I’ve got them… mostly in my head, scribbled on sticky notes, or possibly lost to the ages (and the bottom of my knitting bag). But lately, something’s shifted. I’ve decided it’s time to start sharing my designs, for real. Like, written-down, tested, and ready-for-the-world real. And what better way to bring you along on the journey than with this blog?
Balancing five WIPs at once is basically a full-body workout for the brain—especially when one’s a shawl, two are sweaters, a hat, and I’m pretty sure the socks started knitting themselves at this point. Somewhere between the caffeine-fueled late-night frogging sessions and the “wait, did I decrease here or just dream that I did?” moments, I realized something important: my designs deserve a little structure. Or at least a designated notebook and a working pen. Honestly, I just got tired of reinventing the wheel every time I fell in love with something I made. So, I grabbed a journal—okay, three journals—and started scribbling down everything: stitch counts, yarn choices, those little “oops but it works” hacks. And you know what? It actually felt good.
Which brings me to my very first official pattern: the Moonlight and Moss fingerless mitts. Delicate, a little dreamy, and just rustic enough to feel like they belong in a cozy cottage deep in the woods. I’m almost ready to send them off into the wild—but not without a band of brave, brilliant testers willing to risk blood (from overly sharp needles), sweat (from frantic gauge swatching), and tears (probably from laughter… hopefully). This is my first-ever professional pattern release, and I couldn’t be more excited—or nervous. But hey, that’s what stitch markers and snacks are for, right?

So, whether you’re here to learn, laugh, lend a hand, or just lurk and admire the stitches from afar—you’re officially part of this journey now. I’ll be sharing tips, behind-the-scenes peeks, pattern news, and probably the occasional rant about yarn that misbehaves (you know who you are, splitty alpaca blend).
Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming call for testers, and if you’ve ever thought, “Hey, I’d like to help a slightly chaotic but well-meaning knitter bring her designs to life,” then buckle up, friend—we’re gonna have fun. Thanks for being here, truly. Let’s make something beautiful together.
With tangled love,
Deanna Lynn Knits
